Fears

The thing that makes fears and phobias so persistent is that virtually anything you do to oppose, escape or distract from the anxious feelings and thoughts will be turned against you, and make the anxiety more persistent and continue to make you feel 'out of control!'

As it's been said before, "The harder I try, the worse it gets".

The way to help disarm the anxiety and panic attacks is to increasingly spend time with anxiety - called 'exposure'.  Exposing yourself to particular thoughts and sensations will eventually allow them to subside over a period of time.  Keep in mind that exposure is practice with fear, and try and do nothing to avoid or distract from the fear during the exposure period.  It is not easy, I know, but getting to the root cause, which is exactly what you will be doing, is the start of your recovery!http://www.helpanxietydisorders.com
